Hagsharlotsheroines.com accepts submissions of short stories, poems, and creative non-fiction up to a maximum of 5,000 words.

We welcome new, emerging, and established writers in any style or genre and on any subject. We do not usually publish work that includes gratuitous language, racial abuse, explicit descriptions of sexual activity, violence or the misuse of drugs.

Our most important criteria is that it is writing of quality; innovative work that pushes the boundaries of short fiction and that it explores gender, identity and issues of particular importance for women, though not exclusively.

We accept writing from adults and children of all ages - and we don't expect you to be an established writer.

Please note that by submitting your work to us you are agreeing to both our Terms and Conditions including our Copyright policy and our Privacy Statement. We request that you read these thoroughly before sending anything.

Submissions should be emailed as word documents to mail@hagsharlotsheroines.com with ‘submission’ in the header. Please include the title, author name, or non de plume, your age if under 21, and contact details in the word document. We’re not always able to respond as quickly as we would like. Please be patient; if you haven’t received a response within 8 weeks you’re welcome to contact us. Please send no more than one story a month.
